When in search of views
at Le Bistro-Newport, ask for table seven.
Enjoy great fall views -- and equally great food -- at any one of
these six New England restaurants. Le
Bistro-Newport, 401-849-7778. 41 Bowen's Wharf, Newport, Rhode
Island. ($$-$$$$) French country-style fare, light but not nouvelle:
bouillabaisse, scallops meuniere, steak frites, and lobster offered
three different ways. There's a cozy wine/martini bar on the third
floor where you can also dine overlooking Jamestown and the Newport
Bridge. Request table 7, if available. Open for lunch and dinner
daily, brunch Sun.
The Waterfront Restaurant, 207-236-3747. 40 Bay View St.,
Camden, Maine. ($$-$$$) The wag who said restaurants always use a
good view to mask mediocre food never ate here. Patrons keep coming
back for the mussels steamed with garlic and white wine. Added
bonus: You can trade toasts with passing yachtsmen. Open for lunch
and dinner daily. URL: http://www.yankeemagazine.com/ui/foliage_linkinframe.php?website=www.waterfrontcamden.com
